Xavier Durand
Group Chief Executive Officer, Coface
Xavier Durand, CEO of Coface since February 2016, has more than 30 years of experience in the regulated financial services industry in Europe, the US and Asia.
He started his career in 1987 in consultancy at The Mac Group (Gemini Consulting) before joining the GMF in 1991 and the Sovac Real Estate Bank in 1994 as Deputy CEO.
In 1996, Xavier joined GE Capital, where he began an international career, first in Chicago as Director of Strategy and Growth of the finance division of the Global Auto business. He was appointed successively CEO of GE Money in France in 2002, in Europe in 2005, and of GE Capital’s banking activities in Europe, Russia and Turkey in 2009. In 2011, he was named CEO of GE Capital Asia Pacific, based in Japan. He was appointed GE Capital’s Director of Strategy and Growth, based in London, at the end of 2013.
Xavier has held Board and Board Committee positions in several large international banking and financial services businesses: Garanti Bank listed bank in Turkey; Kungsri Group listed bank in Thailand; Hyundai Capital in Korea; Axa France Vie and IARD; and WiZink Bank in Spain. He currently serves as a Board Member and Chair of the Risk Committee of French-listed Ayvens (formerly known as ALD Automotive | Leaseplan).
He is a graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées.
