Bernard Aw
Bernard Aw
Chief Economist, Asia Pacific Region, Coface
Bernard Aw is the Chief Economist for Asia Pacific region at Coface. In this role, he leads macroeconomic and country risk analysis of the Asia Pacific region, and manages the regional economic research team. He is a member of the region’s senior management, and contributes macroeconomic insights to the Group’s risk decision-making process.

Prior to joining Coface in Singapore, he was Principal Economist at IHS Markit. His other previous roles include Market Strategist for IG Asia and Regional Economist at 4CAST. Bernard holds a M.Sc. in Economics from the Singapore Management University and a B.Sc. in Economics and Finance from the University of London.

Chief Executive Officer, Asia Pacific Region, Coface
Hugh Burke is the Chief Executive Officer of Coface Asia Pacific region since April 2022, having joined Coface as Chief Commercial Officer for the Asia Pacific region in 2016. He is responsible for leading the Coface business and brand in the Asia Pacific region and achieving the strategic objectives of the organization.
 
Based in Hong Kong, Hugh has more than 20 years of experience within the trade credit insurance industry. Prior to joining Coface, Hugh was Head of Aon Asia’s Trade Credit Insurance business. He holds an MBA from Alliance Manchester Business School and was nominated as the Chair of the Asia Committee for ICISA in March 2023.


Kapil Chawla

Vice President, Head of Credit & Counterparty Risk, Olam Food Ingredients
Kapil is a risk specialist with 14 years of experience in risk management, 6 years in banking and 8 years with Olam Group.

As the Global Head of Credit & Counterparty Risk for OFI, he is responsible for establishing credit & counterparty limits for all company business units and ensuring the portfolio meets acceptable risk tolerance/ appetite thresholds approved by the Board. His team is responsible for implementing risk policy, analysing risk proposals, monitoring exposures, compliance with risk limits, and preparing periodic reports for senior management.

He also monitors market & currency risk for a futures traded & cash traded product in my current role. This entails monitoring position limits, outright & basis exposures, sensitivity/ stress scenarios, VaR & drawdown limits. He also performed risk assessment on structured trade finance transactions, implemented the risk appetite framework and assessed investment risk proposals (Capex/ M&A transactions) for Olam Group.


Maisie Chong

Head of Transaction Banking, Singapore and Head of Trade and Working Capital, ASEAN & South Asia, Standard Chartered
Maisie is responsible for the Bank’s end-to-end cash and treasury management propositions in Singapore, as well as leading the strategic innovation and development of trade finance products across the region for corporate and financial institutions. She is a member of the Singapore Management Team, the Global Trade Management Team and the Transaction Banking Asia Management Team. 

Since joining Standard Chartered in 2020, Maisie has led key innovative digital and sustainable finance initiatives in ASEAN, including the Bank’s partnership in Point Carbon Zero, Project Guardian, the Singapore Trade Data Exchange (SGTraDex) and Trade Finance Registry (TFR). Maisie is a Board Director of Glyph Community, a children’s charity in Singapore. 

Maisie holds a bachelor’s degree in Professional and Technical Communication from the Rochester Institute of Technology and a master’s degree in Computer and Information Technology from the University of Pennsylvania. She is based in Singapore.


Xavier Durand

Xavier Durand, CEO of Coface since February 2016, has more than 30 years of experience in the regulated financial services industry in Europe, the US and Asia.

He started his career in 1987 in consultancy at The Mac Group (Gemini Consulting) before joining the GMF in 1991 and the Sovac Real Estate Bank in 1994 as Deputy CEO.

In 1996, Xavier joined GE Capital, where he began an international career, first in Chicago as Director of Strategy and Growth of the finance division of the Global Auto business. He was appointed successively CEO of GE Money in France in 2002, in Europe in 2005, and of GE Capital’s banking activities in Europe, Russia and Turkey in 2009. In 2011, he was named CEO of GE Capital Asia Pacific, based in Japan. He was appointed GE Capital’s Director of Strategy and Growth, based in London, at the end of 2013.

Xavier has held Board and Board Committee positions in several large international banking and financial services businesses: Garanti Bank listed bank in Turkey; Kungsri Group listed bank in Thailand; Hyundai Capital in Korea; Axa France Vie and IARD; and WiZink Bank in Spain. He currently serves as a Board Member and Chair of the Risk Committee of French-listed Ayvens (formerly known as ALD Automotive | Leaseplan).

He is a graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées.


Christophe Hatt

Head of Supply Chain Management, South-East Asia, BNP Paribas
Christophe is leading the Supply Chain Management team at BNP Paribas for South-East Asia. He joined the bank in 2012 and since then, he has held various positions in trade finance and supply chain management in Hong Kong and Singapore. Christophe has a long experience in structuring and implementing receivables purchase programs and supplier financing solutions for clients across various sectors. In line with the strategic “Technology” and “Sustainability” pillars of the bank, he has contributed to establishing collaborations with a number of fintech platforms and has structured recognized sustainable supply chain transactions.


Alex Holmes

Regional Director, Asia Pacific, Economist Intelligence Unit
Alex Holmes is the Regional Director, Asia Pacific for the Economist Intelligence Unit and is based in Singapore. His experience in macroeconomic research has been focused on both deep country-level analysis and delving into the big cross-cutting themes affecting the region. Prior to the EIU, Alex was Lead Economist at Oxford Economics, following stints at Capital Economics, ICAP, Barclays Bank and the UK Government Economics Service.


Grishma Kewada

Grishma Kewada is the Country Manager of Coface for Singapore since April 2023. She is responsible for the overall business and company's strategic direction in Singapore.
 
Since joining Coface in 2019 and prior to taking on her current role;  Grishma was the Regional Head of Commercial Operations and Regional Head of Risk Management. Grishma has 17 years of experience in investment banking and insurance and has worked in China, Thailand and Singapore. Prior to joining Coface, she worked at Prudential, Allianz, Credit Suisse and JP Morgan. Grishma currently serves as the President of the Financial Women’s Association (FWA) Singapore and serves as a Board Member of the Singapore Council of Women Organisations.

Global Head of Documentary Trade and Singapore Head of Product & Propositions, Global Trade and Receivables Finance (GTRF), HSBC
Tze Tze is responsible for HSBC’s Documentary Trade business globally and also leads Product and Propositions for trade finance in Singapore.  She has 30 years of experience in banking, and has spent the last 20 years in transaction banking, specializing in documentary trade, supply chain financing, trade digitalization as well as innovations.  She is actively involved in several industry working groups and forums for trade finance.


Peter Solomon
Peter Solomon
Chief Commercial Officer, Asia Pacific Region, Coface
Peter Solomon is the Chief Commercial Officer of the Asia Pacific region since April 2022.  He is responsible for implementing and leading Coface Asia Pacific’s commercial strategy across all business segments and channels.  

Peter joined Coface in June 2017 and prior to taking on his current role, led our Coface Global Solutions (CGS) segment in the region. He has more than 15 years of experience in the credit insurance industry and has worked in the United Kingdom, Singapore and Hong Kong, where he is currently based. Prior to joining Coface, he was the Asia Sales Leader for Trade Credit at Aon.
